Why Simple Poses Win

Fancy stuff’s overrated because when you’re staring out it just add stress and sets you up to fail like I did —here’s why these rock:

  • Quick Wins: 5-minute setups—cute shots fast, no faffing when bub’s fussy or you’re knackered.
  • Safe as Houses: No weird twists—comfy for bub, peace for you, no stress so save the tears.
  • Real Deal: Sweet, snuggly pics at home—no studio, just your cozy vibe, mess and all!
Other ideas push tricky poses (I skip the Froggy pose now—here’s why)—mine’s safe, free, and makes pics glow. Let’s dive in!

1. Tummy Tuck – Sleepy Bliss

  • Skip the Struggle: Wiggly bubs hate stiff setups—this keeps ‘em calm.
  • How: Lay bub tummy-down on a blanket—tuck legs under gently, arms bent at elbows, chin resting soft. Pop a rolled towel under their chest to give them a lift, they look more comfortable and they photography better on this angle —sleepy bliss, no strain!
  • Why It’s Ace: Natural curl—bub snoozes, you snap, no gear or fuss needed.
  • Tip: Window light—glow hits that tiny back, curls shine, pure magic every time. Pros shoot low for depth—stunner!
Mums, snuggle gold; pros, client-ready—too easy!

2. Side Snuggle – Cozy Glow

  • Why Flat Shots Fade: Front-on gets boring—side adds charm.
  • How: Roll bub onto their side—prop with a blanket roll behind, one arm tucked under, the other resting free. Nestle ‘em in a blanket nest—cozy glow, no flops!
  • Why It’s Fab: Safe and soft—shows that sleepy profile, no awkward bends.
  • Tip: Focus phone on bub’s face—blurs the blanket a touch, eyes pop, sweet and simple!
Mums, cuddly keepers; beginners, nail it—pure joy!

3. Back Curl – Tiny Star

  • Why Stiff Poses Suck: Forced angles wake bub—this flows natural.
  • How: Lay bub on their back—knees tuck up, toes peeking out, arms curl in like a little ball. Add a wrap (peek mine here)—tiny star shines bright!
  • Why It’s Gold: Zero effort—bub’s comfy, you’re calm, no big setup stress.
  • Tip: Shoot overhead—those toes and hands frame the face, if bubs has socks on, now’s the time to take them off! Pros tweak exposure—extra wow!
    Parents, heart-melters; pros, IG-ready—dead simple!

4. Chin Rest – In mum or dads arms

  • Why Busy Poses Drag: Too much fiddling tires bub—this is quick.
  • How: Sit bub in mum or dads hands, so baby’s spin in resting on parents chest. Have bum and legs curled up in one hand and the other hand holding their chest with the arms and hands tucked in behind them. This position makes them feel safe and snug.
  • Why It’s a Win: Easy and safe—cute angle see how little baby looks in their parents hands. No strain, just homey loving cuddly vibes.
  • Tip: Window side-light—glow catches those cheeks, no flat flops to bin!
Mums, adorable wins; beginners, golden snaps that you’re clients will absolutely LOVE —total fun!

5. Parent Hold – Love Glow

  • Why Solo Shots Miss: Bub alone lacks warmth—add you!
  • How: hold baby out in both hands, with baby’s head cupped in both your hands with their torso resting on your wrists/forearms. Hold them out and look down at them.
  • Why It’s Magic: Free and heartfelt—captures that bond between parents. A easy and natural feeling position for the parents.
  • Tip: Shoot tight—focus on bub’s face, your hands blur soft, keeper every time. Pros angle for emotion, try backlit with a window and sheer curtain—pure gold!
Mums, memory bliss; pros, client cash and happy customers!
