Why Calming Bubs Wins Sessions

A calm newborn means smooth shoots, happy clients, and stunning photos. These hacks deliver:

  • Fast: 5 minutes to settle bubs—no endless rocking.
  • Easy: Just your hands or a wrap —no fancy gear needed!
  • Wow: Perfect shots—mums save memories, pros get happy customers!

Others might say you need expensive tools or years of practice—nah, my way’s simple, actionable, and nails it. Let’s calm those newborns!

1. Swaddle with Budget Wraps

Struggle: Fussy bubs won’t settle for shots.
Fix: Swaddle newborns in a jersey stretch wrap (these are best to keep them swaddled snuggly – prevents them from wriggling out of their wrap) or accessories. Use a tight, arms-in swaddle to mimic the womb. See our wrapping video here on how to easily get bubs settled!
Tip: Practice on a doll first—makes swaddling a breeze!

2. Use White Noise for Instant Calm

Struggle: Noisy environments stress bubs.
Fix: Play white noise from a free phone app (e.g., “White Noise Lite”). If bubs isn’t settling, try turning the volume up! When baby was in the womb, it was like a vacuum cleaner being constantly on! If white noise doesn’t work, its often because the volume isn’t up loud enough. Think Vacuum volulme levels!
Tip: Test the app before the shoot—keeps bubs calm from the start!

3. Rock Gently Before Posing

Struggle: Bubs wake up during posing.
Fix: Gently rock the newborn in your arms for 1–2 mins before placing them down for the shoot. Use a soft touch, like a slow sway.
Tip: Keep rocking rhythmic—bubs stay asleep longer or slow walks, babies know when you’re walking around, it adds another layer of settling.

4. The Pro Secret – The Calm Lock (Tease!)

Struggle: Fussy bubs kill your session vibe.
