Hey there, tired legends, photo newbies, and dreamers craving jaw-dropping shots! Ever struggled to pose newborns for photos, worried they’ll look stiff or wake up mid-shoot? I’ve been there—newbie days, awkward poses, panicking over fussy bubs. After 10+ years, hundreds of bubs and workshops with world renowned newborn photographers, I’ve got super easy tips to pose newborns (what those workshops missed!) for stunning photos fast. These hacks work for beginners, pros, and mums starting small—whether shooting at home or in a studio! My free 30-min masterclass video for at-home or professional shots will have you shooting like a pro in less than 30 mins!

Why Perfect Posing Wins Clients
Stunning poses create heart-melting photos, thrill clients, and fill your calendar. These hacks deliver:
- Fast: 5 minutes to nail a pose—no endless adjusting.
- Easy: Just your hands—no pricey props needed!
- Wow: Gorgeous shots—mums save memories, pros get happy customers!
Others might say you need fancy setups or pro skills that require difficult posing —nah, my way’s simple, actionable, and nails it. Let’s pose those newborns!
1. Master the Side-Lying Pose
Struggle: Poses look unnatural or wake bubs.
Fix: Place the newborn on their side with a wrap, knees tucked, hands near the face for a cozy curl. Use a soft blanket for comfort, parent nearby for support.
Tip: Adjust the head gently—small tweaks make big differences!

2. Try the Chin-on-Hands Pose
Struggle: Bubs slip out of poses fast.
Fix: Hold baby in your arms upright, curled up in a little ball so babies hands rest on their feet, and hands hold under their chin (just like in the pic below!). By holding them, this adds another level of comfort for baby and avoids startling them, like what often happens when baby is put down onto a blanket for example.
Tip: Use babies feet as a pro to keep their hands under their chin.

3. Baby Curled up on Blanket with Parents Hands
Struggle: Clients want variety without long shoots.
Fix: Have baby in a cute outfit – one that shows their little hands and feet. Place them on a blanket and get mum and/or dad to place hands on baby – a great comparison to remember how tiny their baby was. When holding babies legs, make sure the parent is holding them up so baby isn’t stretched out.
Tip: Switch poses fast—keeps bubs calm and clients happy!
