Why Emotions Make Unforgettable Shots

Capturing bub’s emotions—sleepy gazes, tiny grins—creates pics that fill your first year album with pure love. These hacks deliver:

  • Fast: 2 mins to snap—no endless waiting.
  • Easy: Just your phone—no fancy gear needed, but grab your DSLR if you have one!
  • Wow: Heart-melting shots—mums save memories, pros get very happy customers!

Others might say you need studio gear or perfect timing—nah, my way’s safe, simple, and nails it. Let’s capture that bub’s heart!

1. Shoot Post-Feed for Calm

Struggle: Fussy bubs hide their emotions.
Fix: Snap right after a feed when newborns are drowsiest, parent nearby. For 6-month-olds, try morning playtime for giggles. Lay bub on a soft blanket near a window (like in the pic below!).
Tip: Keep a swaddle handy for instant calm—check my demo here!
Safety Tip: Always have an adult’s hand ready—super safe!

2. Use Burst Mode for Candid’s

Struggle: Missing fleeting moments like yawns.
Fix: Turn on burst mode on your phone to catch every smile or stretch. For 12-month-olds with siblings, capture their cuddles, parent close. Shoot in soft morning light for warm tones.
Tip: Review bursts later to pick the perfect emotional shot!

3. Get Close for Details

Struggle: Emotions get lost in wide shots.
Fix: Zoom in on bub’s face, hands, or toes—think tiny lashes or puckered lips. For 8-week-olds, focus on sleepy eyes, parent holding. Use a neutral blanket to keep the focus on bub’s expression.
Tip: Angle slightly above bub for a cozy, intimate vibe!

4. The Pro Secret – The Emotion Lock (Tease!)

Struggle: No emotions, just blank stares.
Fix: Here’s my trick: a calm bub plus soft light and a quick burst captures every fleeting moment. My $37 Baby Whispering Mini Course shares calming magic, inspired by my chat with Sheyne Rowley, the Australian Baby Whisperer—read it here—and my 10+ years settling every bub I’ve shot!
