Why Planning Makes Perfect Shots

A simple plan means dreamy poses, calm bubs, and heart-melting pics. These hacks deliver:

  • Fast: 5 mins to prep—no endless setup.
  • Easy: Just a blanket or couch—no fancy gear needed!
  • Wow: Stunning shots—mums save memories for their bubs first year album, pros get happy customers!

Others might say you need a studio or tons of props—nah, my way’s safe, simple, and nails it. Let’s plan that perfect shoot!

1. Pick the Right Time

Struggle: Bad timing stresses bub and you.
Fix: Schedule post-feed or during a nap when newborns are drowsiest, with a parent nearby. For 6-month-olds, try morning playtime for smiles. Avoid late afternoons for 12-month-olds—they’re often cranky. Set up a blanket near a window (like in the pic below!).
Tip: Plan for 20–30 mins to keep it quick and calm!
Safety Tip: Always have an adult’s hand ready—super safe!

2. Keep Props Simple

Struggle: Too many props clutter the shot.
Fix: Use a soft blanket or basket as your base. For 8-week-olds, add a parent’s scarf for texture, keeping bub secure. For toddlers, include a favorite toy to hold while sitting with bub, parent holding. Skip heavy or sharp items.
Tip: Choose neutral colors like white or beige for a timeless look!

3. Prep for Calm

Struggle: Fussy bub derails the shoot.
Fix: Swaddle newborns for snug vibes (demo here). Have a white noise machine or soft lullaby ready. For 12-month-olds, let them play nearby before posing, with a parent close. Keep the room warm for bub’s comfort.
Tip: Feed bub 10 mins before to ensure a sleepy, happy shoot!

4. The Pro Secret – The Prep Lock (Tease!)

Struggle: Chaos kills the shoot vibe.
Fix: Here’s my trick: a 5-min checklist—swaddle, white noise, warm room—sets the stage for a calm bub and perfect shots. My $37 Baby Whispering Mini Course shares more calming magic, inspired by my chat with Sheyne Rowley, the Australian Baby Whisperer—read it here—and my 10+ years settling every bub I’ve shot!
