Why Smart Pricing Books Clients
A profitable price means more bookings, happy clients, and a thriving biz. These hacks deliver:
- Fast: 1 hour to set prices—no endless math.
- Easy: Just a calculator—no fancy tools needed!
- Wow: Packed calendar—mums save memories, pros get happy customers!
Others might say you need high-end rates or complex packages—nah, my way’s simple and nails it. Let’s price those sessions!
1. Cover Your Costs
Struggle: Low prices lose money.
Fix: Add up costs—$10+ props, wraps accessories, $10 gas when travelling to shoots (add more if you’re driving more than 15 minutes, 1-2 hour editing costs of software prescriptions etc. If you’re new looking to book your first photography clients, start at $100 for a 20–30 min session. Include 3–5 digital files, upsell extras for $50+.
Tip: Track time spent to ensure profit—aim for $50/hour minimum!
2. Offer Simple Packages
Struggle: Confusing prices turn clients off or not enough variety at different pricing points.
Fix: Offer 2–3 clear packages, like mine: a $147 Baby Pop-Up (15 mins, 4 files, studio-only), $597 Simple Mini (30 mins, 15 files, weekdays), or $847 Full Experience (1–2.5 hours, 20 files, flexible). Curious about my full pricing setup? Check it here!
Tip: Start with your Mini package to hook clients fast!
3. Upsell Prints and Products
Struggle: One-off sessions limit income.
Fix: Offer prints ($20 for 5×7) or albums ($100) post-session, using Pic-Time for pro galleries if budget allows, or Google Photos if starting out. Offering an upsell to All digital files is also a great way to increase your income – as long as your packages do not include all digital files
